Paula Shaughnessy
"I’ve always been drawn to Day of the Dead art; the significance of honoring the people we’ve loved and lost, and the connection to them that continues to exist as long as we remember them. I like bright color and contrast, hard graphic lines, and taking a topic so emotionally and physically complex and making something simple and beautiful of it. My work honors love most of all - I believe that in the end, no matter what else you've done with your life, it's what and how you've loved that matters."

Ray Arcadio
Ray’s work is about people’s necessity to go to extremes with their beauty, beliefs or expression. “I don’t judge what drives us to these extremes; rather I’m fascinated by the physical manifestation, but whatever the "drive" is, it starts a chain of events that ends up being the subject of my paintings.” Ray was born in the Dominican Republic and is the founding member of the culture jamming collaborative group Artfux. He obtained a BFA from New Jersey City University. Ray has exhibited around the United States and has appeared in various newspapers, magazines and television shows. His works are in various private collections including the Jersey City Museum in Jersey City, NJ, The Museum of Modern Religious Art at the University of St. Louis in St. Louis, MO and the Museo Moderno de Arte, Santo Domingo, RD. Ray Arcadio currently lives and works in New Jersey.

JA Pacheco
Latin Pop Shop welcomes artist JA Pacheco.
About her work, Pacheco says:
"Creating art can be an addiction. Some of my best work has come from experiments in provoking reaction. I work to make my images a message. From an early age of 11 to now, 20+ years later, the conviction still flows strong. It's one of the most beautiful obsessions ever. When making art, I lose track of time and space. Just the next stroke of my brush or finishing that last section of sculpture keeps me going. My work always gives praise to color and shape. I am a great fan of soft curves and contrasts; deriving part or all of my pieces from those variables. I like fire, vibrancy and movement even when it's a figure in repose. My path in the arts has had great influences. From an early age I received encouragement by my family and observing the artwork of a variety of Nicaraguan artists to International Masters of old. Artistic influences are many and each one has helped me view my own work in a special light. "

Tell Us What You Love About Your Valentine
As February 14th approaches I'm reminded that my partner and I will celebrate our 14th anniversary this summer. After all these years, he still laughs at my jokes and ridiculous behavior and supports all of my artistic endeavors unconditionally.

Zoila Minaya
We proudly welcome Zoila Minaya to our growing familia of artists!
"My paintings relate to the microscopic world. Working with organic shapes that resemble cross sections of cell tissues and one-cell organisms. The compositions of these works are not premeditated. They take form and grow spontaneously. In contrast, printmaking allows me to create more controlled visual textures and lines. Woodcut prints, in particular, are a joy to make. My prints are a celebration of nature and the animal kingdom."
